American History 10- “How T.R. saved the game of football”
In the early 1900’s football was threatened to be an outlawed sport. As many as 8 football players died in one year. Something had to be done. President Theodore Roosevelt was a lover of sports, including “American Football”. T.R. founded a group of men who changed the rules of football to make it safer, so that it would not become a banned sport. These rules are close to the rules we know and love today.
