            The war was not easy even though many Americans did not even know where Vietnam was.  The __________________ burrowed into the earth using an elaborate system of __________________ to hide in and conduct secret operations out of (picture on page 944).  The Vietcong also tried to blend into areas inhabited by __________________, because a lot of their support lie there.  The United States resorted to a strategy called __________________ because they wanted to send a message that cooperating with the Vietnam would not be accepted.  Under this tactic, __________________ were killed and houses and even whole villages were burnt to the ground.  American planes spread __________________, a gasoline based bomb, to burn the jungle down.  They also sprayed __________________, a leaf-killing toxic chemical, to harm the Vietcong.  All of this cruel treatment created __________________ refugees.
